Motion graphics is one of the most powerful tools available to communicators — but only when it is used with intention. A video that looks impressive but fails to communicate clearly, land on the right emotional register, or guide the viewer to the right conclusion is an expensive missed opportunity. At Vicinity Design, we begin every motion project with the message, not the medium.
We are a Singapore-based motion graphics and animation studio with a track record across some of the most demanding communication contexts in the region — patient education at Singapore National Eye Centre, critical illness awareness for HSBC Life, institutional launch films for NCS and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and exhibition animation for National Gallery Singapore. In each case, the brief was not simply to produce a video. It was to make a complex idea legible, a sensitive topic approachable, or an institutional message genuinely compelling to a public audience.
Our studio combines creative direction, illustration, and animation under one roof. That means the visual language of your film — its colour palette, character style, typographic treatment, and motion aesthetic — is developed as a coherent system from day one, not assembled from disconnected parts. It also means we can move faster, with fewer handoff errors and a single point of accountability throughout production.

Our Process
From brief to final delivery.
Six stages, one point of contact, and no surprises. Every milestone is agreed at kickoff and tracked throughout production.

Brief & Discovery
We begin with a structured briefing session — understanding your audience, key message, desired tone, target platform, duration, and delivery deadline. For healthcare and public sector clients, we also review any regulatory or compliance requirements that affect the script or visual approach at this stage, before any creative work begins.

Script & Storyboard
We develop a script (or review yours) and produce a full storyboard — a scene-by-scene visual plan of the film. The storyboard is the most important alignment tool in the process: it locks the narrative structure, pacing, and key visual moments before any animation begins. Client approval at this stage prevents costly revisions later.

Style Frames & Design
We design 3–5 key frames in full colour — establishing the illustration style, colour palette, typography treatment, and character design (if applicable) before we animate a single frame. Style frame approval gives you complete visibility of the final look before production begins.

Animation & Motion
With script, storyboard, and style frames approved, our motion team builds and animates every scene. We work in After Effects, using a structured layer system that makes revisions clean and efficient. A work-in-progress preview is shared at the 70% mark so you can review timing and pacing before we lock the final cut.

Sound Design & Voiceover
We integrate music, sound effects, and voiceover — sourcing from licensed libraries or coordinating with professional voice talent if required. For bilingual projects (English and Mandarin are most common for Singapore clients) we manage both language tracks within the same production timeline.

Final Delivery & Handover
Final files are delivered in all required formats — MP4 for web and social, MOV ProRes for broadcast and events, and any platform-specific exports needed. We provide a structured handover package with clearly labelled files for each intended use. After Effects source files are available upon request.
